Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College athletic department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of October 6 – 12, 2003. Volleyball freshman Renee Biberstine and men’s soccer junior Courtney Hamilton earned the honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Renee Biberstine
Renee Biberstine, an Elementary Education major from Berne, Ind. (Adams Central High School), helped lead the Forester volleyball team to a 2-2 record last week with 35 kills, 27 digs and three blocks. In the Foresters win over Manchester College on Friday, Biberstine claimed team-high honors with 15 kills and added 11 digs. In Saturday’s victory over Earlham, she again led the team with 13 kills and added 3 blocks. The Foresters are next in action on Wednesday, October 15, at Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana at 7:30 p.m.
Courtney Hamilton
Courtney Hamilton, a business management major from Tobago in Trinidad and Tobago, helped the soccer team secure two wins on the week. As the Foresters’ goalkeeper, Hamilton recorded a shutout on Tuesday against Mid-Central Conference (MCC) foe, Goshen College, to preserve the 1-0 victory. He followed up that feat with a 13-save performance in the team’s 2-1 win over Franklin College to lead the Foresters to their first undefeated week of the season. The Foresters will next travel to Marion, Indiana on Wednesday, October 15 to take on MCC rival, Indiana Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m.
