Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 7-13. Women’s track junior Lauren Davenport and men’s tennis sophomore Gonzalo Vivas earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week.
Lauren Davenport, an exercise science major from Andrews, Ind., (Huntington North High School) had a third and a fourth place finish for the Foresters at the Indiana Intercollegiate Little State track meet on the weekend. Davenport was third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:07.86, and she was fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.65. Huntington returns to action on April 19 when they travel to Wilmington College at 11 a.m.
Gonzalo Vivas
Gonzalo Vivas, a business management major from Lima, Peru, had a strong performance on the tennis court during the week. He was a double winner in the men’s 7-2 victory over Adrian College. Vivas won 6-3, 6-4 at #2 singles and then he and his partner, Adam Widener, didn’t lose a game in their 8-0 win at #2 doubles. The Foresters (8-7) next host Marian College on April 16 at 5 p.m.
