Davenport named Forester Athlete of Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 14-20. Women’s basketball junior Lauren Davenport earned the honor for her outstanding effort during the week’s competition.

Lauren Davenport, an exercise science major from Andrews, Ind. (Huntington North High School) averaged 17 points, 6.5 rebounds and five assists to help lead Huntington to two wins on the week. In the Foresters’ 63-55 upset win over NAIA 8th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan, she scored 14 points and added five rebounds and four assists. Against Goshen, Davenport topped all scorers in the game with 20 points on 8-10 shooting in Huntington’s 75-64 victory. She also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists in the contest. Huntington (12-7) returns to action on Jan. 23 when they travel to Grace College for a 7 p.m. start.
