Johnson, Kyle earn Forester Athlete of Week honors

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 17-23. Men’s cross country senior Nick Johnson and men’s basketball junior Kevin Kyle earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Nick Johnson, an exercise science major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), paced the Foresters with an eighth place finish in 24:40, a personal best by 29 seconds, at the NAIA National Championship in Kenosha, Wisconsin. His top 10 was by far his best showing in three trips to the national event and earned him NAIA All-America honors for the first time in his career. His effort also helped lead Huntington to a 10th place finish in the team standings.

Kevin Kyle
Kevin Kyle, a recreation management major from Crawfordsville, Ind. (North Montgomery High School), averaged a double-double with 25.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in Huntington’s two wins during the week. He scored a career high 30 points and grabbed 12 boards in the Foresters’ 110-68 victory over Holy Cross College, and he had 21 points and 11 rebounds in their 102-89 win over St. Xavier University. Huntington (5-3) returns to action on Nov. 25 when they host Olivet Nazarene University at 7 p.m.
