Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of March 13-19, 2006. Women’s track junior Emily Sealscott and baseball freshman Andrew Taylor earned the honor for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Emily Sealscott, a math education major from Van Wert, Ohio (Van Wert High School), shaved 14 seconds off her previous best time in the steeplechase event at the Charlotte 49er Classic. In her first outdoor competition of the season, Sealscott ran to a third place finish in the race with her time of 11:59.41. Her new personal record replaces her former best of 12:13.44 as the second best time on Huntington’s school record list. The Foresters will travel to Defiance College, Ohio for their next meet on Saturday, March 25 at 10:00 a.m.
Andrew Taylor
Andrew Taylor, a freshman from Kokomo, Ind. (Kokomo High School), picked up two complete-game wins for Huntington University during the team’s swing south over spring break. The southpaw gave up just one earned run in 14 innings of work. In the Foresters’ 7-1 victory over Aquinas College, Taylor allowed one unearned run on six hits while striking out four and walking three. In HHuHuntington’s 3-1 win over Olivet Nazarene University, he gave up one run on seven hits with one strike out and a walk. The Foresters (7-7) will next host St. Xavier University on Friday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m.
