Huntington, Ind. - After dropping a pair of games to the University of Rio Grande (11-4, 10-8) to open up play in Daytona Beach, Florida, the Forester baseball team (2-10) bounced back to pick up two wins against Grand View University.
Mitch Bowers threw a complete game five-hitter to lead the Foresters past the Vikings 4-0 on Monday afternoon. He fanned nine hitters without issuing a walk. As a team, HU combined for 10 hits and nabbed three stolen bases. Ethan Tribolet and Blake Ayers had two hits apiece to spearhead the offense. Marc Bowers, Eric Schultz, Jamon Hammel and Tribolet drove in runs.
Tuesday morning Tribolet pick up where Bowers left off, taking it to the Vikings for the team's second straight win, 3-1. He scattered eight hits over 5.2 innings, striking out two and allowing one run to notch his first win of the season. Brian Kirschbaum tossed the final 1.1 innings to pick up the save. Drew Adams went 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the offense. Schultz and Chris Menzie added two hits apiece and Hammel had a double.
