Huntington, Ind. - Up against the University of Rio Grande, ranked No. 25 in the NAIA preseason Top 25 rating, for the third time this week, the Foresters (2-12) dropped a 10-4 decision to an explosive RedStorm squad Thursday morning.
After John Ripke gave up three runs on five hits over the first four innings, Xyan Adkisson came in for relief and took the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, on eight hits in two innings on the mound. Offensively, Huntington banged out eight hits compared to the RedStorm's 13. Adam Christner paced HU with two hits and an RBI. Schultz finished with a triple and two RBI.
Later that day, the Foresters fell victim to Tiffin University 9-4. Despite outhitting the Dragons 13-11, HU struggled to cross the plate as compared to their counter-part. Dustin Rutledge went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Foresters. Schultz added two hits with two RBI and a run scored. Dan Holcomb took the loss for Huntington, allowing seven hits and eight runs over three innings of work.
The Foresters wrap-up spring break play with a game against Tiffin later this morning.
