The Foresters dropped a pair of games to Marian College losing game one 1-0 and game two 4-1.
Game one was a pitcher's dual. Marian's Jeff Brunette and HU's Drew Taylor both threw a five-hitter with no walks, but it was the Knights that were able to get one across pull off the win.
In the top of the third, Marian's Chad Morris led off with a single to center. Andre Hall moved him to second with a sacrifice bunt and then Morris advanced to third on a passed ball by Zach Crooks. Josh Gerald then knocked him in with a fly ball to center. It was all the offense the Knights would need.
Taylor went the distance for HU in the loss and falls to 6-2 on the season.
In the nightcap, Marian scored a run in their first at-bat to grab the early lead. Two Knight errors and a timely single from Jon Rolon allowed the Foresters to tie the score in the third, but Marian immediately reclaimed the lead for good with two in the top of the fourth. The Knights added one more in the sixth to seal the win.
Josh Clark (1-2) took the loss for HU. He gave up four runs on six hits and five walks while striking out two in five and two-thirds innings. The Forester offense was held to just three hits in the game.
"Marian just played better than we did," said Coach Frame. "We just did not swing the bats at all and Marian's kids were very good on the mound."
