Hammel selected to Capital One All-District Team

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University baseball player Jamon Hammel of Andrews, Indiana (Huntington North HS), has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District 3 First Team in the College Division, as selected by the College of Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).

An accounting major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, the junior shortstop played in 44 games before being sidelined with an injury for the remainder of the season. He finished the year with 27 hits which included five doubles and a homer. He scored 14 runs and drove in 23 more.

The College Division’s District Three is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, an individual must be a varsity starter or key reserve, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and have been nominated by his sports information director. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
