Foresters sweep Baker Invitational

Huntington, Ind. - The Huntington cross country teams successfully defended their home course as both the men’s and women’s teams took first place at the annual E. DeWitt Baker Invitational as part of HU’s homecoming activities.

For the men, Alec Rosario crossed the line first out of a field of 35 runners with a winning time of 26:25. Lance Wood finished fourth overall in 27:13. Claiming spots six through eight was Brian Menzie (27:50), Joseph Herber (28:08) and Nathan Rupp (28:11). Seth Murphy came in 13th in 29:12 and Isaiah Laatsch ran to a 15th place finish in 29:47.

HU finished with 26 points followed by Indiana Tech (55), Grace College (57) and University of Saint Francis (101).

In the women’s race, the Foresters claimed the top three posts with Gretchen Spahr taking top honors in 19:19. Cendall Ogle (19:53) and Krystal McHenry (20:07) came in second and third respectively. Erin Rockey claimed fifth with her time of 20:40. Running a 21:11, Miranda Boyts crossed the line ninth. Natalie Spahr finished in 21:29 for 13th place and Amanda Henningfield ran to a 15th place finish in 22:04.

The Foresters won the Invitational with 20 points followed by Indiana Tech (45), University of Saint Francis (80) and Grace College (92).

The Foresters hit the road on Friday to participate in the Wilmington College Fall Classic.
