Wood named Forester Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of September 10 – 16, 2012. Women’s cross country freshman Krista Wood earned the honor for her outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Wood, a Waterville, Ohio native (Toledo Christian), guided the 23rd-ranked Foresters to a first place finish at the Grace College Invitational over the weekend. She was the individual champion, finishing in 19:28 with the next six spots claimed by her teammates.

Huntington dominated the race to finish with a perfect team score of 15. The field included five other teams, four of which were from the Crossroads League.

HU travels to Indiana State University on Friday to compete in the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
