Richmond, Ind. - The Forester golf team picked up where they left off last season by dominating the Indiana University East Red Wolves Fall Tee-Off Tournament at Highland Lake Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon. HU shot a three-under-par 285 to grab their first tournament title of the year.
Senior Matt Wilson brought home top medalist honors by shooting a three-under-par 69 (35, 34). Not far behind was Mickey Belt who finished in a tie for second with a 71 (36, 35). Jordan Dawes shot even par with a 72 (36, 36). Josh Teulker turned in a 73 (38, 35) as did Matt Johnson (36, 37) who competed as an individual. Rounding out play for the Foresters was Devin Dale who shot a 76 (38, 38) in his first collegiate match.
"This was a great way to start off our season,” said Coach Green. “Matt Wilson and Mickey Belt played excellent by having under par rounds. Matt Johnson and Devin Dale both played their first collegiate golf matches today and did a great job for us."
Indiana University East finished eight strokes behind the Foresters with a 293 followed by the University of Northwestern Ohio (299).
Huntington hits the road again on September 12-13 when they compete in the Indiana Wesleyan University Fall Tournament.
