Alliance, Ohio - Sitting in fifth place after shooting a 303 as a team in first round action of the Malone University Fall Classic, the Forester golf team bounced back on to day two with a 290 to finish in third place with a two-day score of 593 at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance, Ohio.
Two strokes out of the lead after Friday, Jordan Dawes stormed back on Saturday to shoot a three-under-par 69 to finish in a tie for first with Malone’s Ryan Headley. Dawes made quick work of the sudden-death playoff, chipping in an eagle on the first hole to bring home medalist honors. He finished with a score of 141.
Matt Wilson shot a five-over-par 149 (77, 72). Not far behind him was Devin Dale with a 150 (76, 74). Mickey Belt turned in a 153 (78, 75) while Josh Teulker finished with a 162 (80, 82). Matt Johnson played as an individual and tallied a 172 (79, 93).
Malone University finished first among the eight-team field with a 578 followed by Holy Cross (588), HU (593), Madonna (595), Spring Arbor (615), Mount Vernon (620), Grove City (636) and Urbana (646).
Next up for Huntington (14-5) is the Battle at Blackhorn hosted by Bethel College on September 23-24.
