Huntington, Ind. - If this summer is any indication of what Huntington University senior Matt Wilson’s final golf season will be like, look for the Foresters to be a national contender again this year.
On Saturday Wilson, a Homestead High School graduate, shot an eight-under-par 64 (33,31) to set a new competition course record at Chestnut Hills Golf Club and win the Parker Motter Hall of Fame Tournament.
It was a bogey-free round of golf for Wilson as he hit 17 out of 18 greens in regulation and credited solid putting as the key to his success.
The Foresters finished last year with an overall record of 82-37. They captured the 2011 MCC conference title and earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships for the second time in three years.
