Huntington, Ind.—Huntington University will host the 2008 Tennis Camp under the direction of head tennis coach, Gary Turner, and Matthew Turner, a teacher and coach at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Fla. The camp will be held on June 23-26 and June 30-July 3 with rain make-up days on June 27 and July 4. Camp will take place at the Huntington University Klopfenstein Tennis Courts.
The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades six through 12 this fall. For those in grades nine through 12, camp will be held from 8 until 10 a.m. For those in grades six through eight, camp will be held from 10 a.m. until noon.
To attend, students must fill out the registration slip, have a signed release form and send these along with a payment of $75 per attendee, which include that a camp T-shirt. All checks should be made payable to Gary Turner and sent to Gary Turner, Huntington University, 2303 College Ave., Huntington, IN 46750.
“Tennis is a sport that children can learn and participate in for their entire lives,” said Gary Tuner. “What I want to do is teach them the fundamentals so they can enjoy the sport throughout high school and into adulthood.”
The camp will teach the fundamentals of tennis through a collegiate level of instruction. Participants will learn individual skills as well as take part in competition with other campers and high intensity drills.
