After a week off, the HU men's basketball team (11-2) polished off the Bears of Shawnee State University (3-7) 95-83 on Saturday afternoon.

It was a unique start to the game as the Bears were assessed a technical foul for dunking during warm-ups. Tyler Shively went 1-for-2 from the line to give HU the 1-0 lead before any time had ticked off the clock. The Foresters never looked back as they built their first double digit lead at 23-13 seven minutes into the game. Five different Foresters found their way into the scoring column over the next seven minutes to give HU their largest lead of the contest at 37-19 with just over five minutes left in the half. The Bears closed out the stanza with a 13-6 run to cut the lead to 43-32 by intermission.

The Bears hung around in the second half as they outscored HU 7-2 in the first two minutes to trim the lead to six at 45-39. The Foresters returned the favor with their own 7-2 run behind Shively's jumper and triple ball to push the lead back to eleven. Shawnee State got within five at 59-54 midway through the period but they would get no closer as Huntington relied on solid free throw shooting by going 30-for-31 in the final ten minutes to keep the Bears at arm's length.

Shively knocked down 17-for-18 from the charity stripe to finish with a game-high 26 points. Kellen Zawadzki chipped in twenty points and six assists and Bobby Jolliff came off the bench to score 19 points and grab eight boards. Jordan Laster paced Shawnee State with 19 points. Keelyn Franklin and Zak Metz tossed in 14 points each and Mark Bryant and Tyler Boyles added 13 and 11 points respectively.

The Foresters finish the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule on Saturday when they host Cedarville University at 3:00 p.m.
