Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 4. Women’s track and field freshman Bethany McGraw and men’s basketball senior Kyle Ganton earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competition.
Bethany McGraw, an exercise science major from Perrysburg, Ohio (Toledo Christian High School), grabbed two first place finishes at the Taylor University Invitational on Saturday. McGraw won the long jump with a leap of 17-10.50 and took first in the triple jump with a mark of 33-04.50. McGraw also added a fourth in the 55 meter dash (7.63) and a fifth in the 200 meter dash (27.42). The Foresters return to action on Friday February 9 when they travel to Ohio to compete in the Ohio Northern University Invitational at 6 p.m.
Kyle Ganton, an elementary education major from Coldwater, Mich. (Bronson High School), helped lead the Foresters to a 66-48 victory over Taylor University with his game-high 19 points. In Huntington’s lone game of the week, he was a perfect 8-8 from the field, including 2-2 from behind the arc. Currently Ganton is averaging 18.9 points per game for the 22-4 Foresters and needs just 21 points to score the 2000th point of his outstanding career. The NAIA 8th-ranked Foresters return to action on February 6 when they host the Cougars of Spring Arbor University at 7 p.m.
