Merryman named Crossroads Player of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University junior Shane Merryman was named the Crossroads League Player of the Week for the week of December 3-9, 2012.

Merryman, a physical education management major from Fort Wayne, Ind. (Carroll High School), guided his team to a 1-1 record this past week. The 6-5 forward began the week with 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 67-66 win over Marian University. He followed that up with a 27-point performance to go along with four assists in the Foresters’ 89-88 loss to No. 10 Grace College on Saturday.

For the week, Merryman averaged 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per outing while shooting 69.2 percent (18-for-26) from the field. He currently sits atop the league in field goal percentage (63.0) and ranks second in scoring (20.44) and seventh in rebounding (6.78). 

The Foresters (4-5, 1-2) are back in action tonight when they host Great Lakes Christian College at 5:30 p.m.
