Platt to speak at November Foundation Breakfast

Huntington, Ind.— Steve Platt, Huntington College men’s basketball coach, will be on hand to preview the upcoming Forester season on Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at the monthly Foundation Breakfast Series.

The public is cordially invited to attend. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m., in the Habecker Dining Commons. The program will conclude by 9 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $6.00. First time attendees to the breakfast series eat free. Breakfast meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month, September through May. Steve Platt became the 23rd head coach in Huntington Colleges’ 80-year men’s basketball history at the start of the 1994 season. Platt has guided the Foresters to three MCC Tournament Championships, an NAIA Final Four appearance, an MCC regular season title, and three national tournament appearances. His players have earned 14 All-American honors, 25 All-Conference honors, and on four occasions, a Forester has been named the MCC Player of the Year. Platt has compiled 199 wins against 101 losses and recently led his 2002-03 squad to a share of the MCC regular season title and a third MCC Tournament Championship. Platt’s winning percentage of .663 is the highest in school history. Platt was also recognized in the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel as one of Northeast Indiana’s Top 50 Athletes of the Century. He was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996, the NAIA Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987, and was the first inductee to the Huntington College Hall of Fame in 1974. Platt was also a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team in 1990, and was a Huntington College Centennial Medallion Recipient in 1997. Platt graduated from Huntington College in 1974 with a degree in Business Administration.
