Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College athletics department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of February 14-20, 2005. Women’s basketball junior Jessica Ramey and men’s basketball sophomore Alex Kock earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Jessica Ramey
Jessica Ramey, a recreation management major from Kimmell, Ind. (West Noble High School), was the lone Forester to receive Mid-Central Conference honors. Ramey, who is averaging 12.6 points and 4.4 assists on the season, was a Second Team selection. She also had an outstanding individual performance in Huntington’s only game during the week. Ramey went 11-16 from the field, including 4-6 from behind the arc for 26 points against Bethel. The Foresters return to action on Tuesday, February 22 when they travel to St. Francis for first round MCC Tournament play at 7:00 p.m.
Alex Kock
Alex Kock, a physical education and health major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School), received the Mid-Central Conference’s highest post-season individual honor as he was named MCC Player of the Year. As a transfer to Huntington this season, Kock also garnered the Newcomer of the Year award. During the final week of MCC regular season play, Kock helped the Foresters solidify their top seed in the upcoming conference tournament with his 20 points in their 80-77 win over Bethel College. He went 10-17 from the field and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in the winning effort. In first round MCC Tournament action on Wednesday, February 23, the #1-seeded Foresters host the #8-seeded Bethel College Pilots at 7:00 p.m.
The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eight years, Huntington has produced 50 NAIA All-American honors and 99 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
