Huntington spends Thanksgiving break in Illinois

Belleville, Ill. - Coach Jim Bischoff’s bowling squads spent part of their Thanksgiving break in Illinois to compete in the National Team Match Game Tournament.

The Forester women’s bowling team finished 23rd in the tournament at Bel-Air Bowl in Belleville, Ill. Competing against some of the best teams in the country including defending National Champions Webber International and powerhouses Wichita State, McKendree and Robert Morris, HU was as high as 17th in the standings before their final finishing position.

In head-to- head Baker matches during the weekend, Huntington finished 14-26. In Saturday’s individual competition, Casandra Griffith paced HU with a 67th finish out of 198 bowlers averaging 170 for six games.

Ayla Yeiter came in 80th averaging 160.5 for six games and Emily O’Leary finished two spots behind her in 82nd averaging 160 for six games. Eleni Newsome finished 99th and averaged 172 for five games, Stephanie Misamore averaged 157.4 for five games and in two games bowled, Tiffany Walthers averaged 155.5.

Competing at St. Claire Lanes in Fairview Heights, the Forester men’s bowling team finished 34th. In Individual competition, Tyler Neff finished 65th out of 275 bowlers averaging 189.0 for six games. Connor Brown finished 98th with a 175.3 average and Kris Kasson placed 114th averaging 164.2 for six games. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
