Up against the top team in the MCC, the HU men’s soccer
team grabbed a 1-0 lead but couldn’t hang on as the Foresters dropped a 3-1 decision to Bethel College.
Huntington wasted no time getting on the board as Kyle Geiss found the back of the net from an assist with Eric Bjorndal just 73 seconds into the game. The Foresters would hold onto the lead through intermission but then Bethel’s Romulo Nobrega went to work scoring two goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to give the Pilots a 2-1 lead. They added one more in the 84th minute of play to put the game out of reach.
The Pilots outshot the Foresters 15-5. Chris Fox went the distance in goal to record five saves.
The Foresters are 2-10-2 (0-4-1 in MCC play). They travel to Spring Arbor on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. matchup with the Cougars.
