It was a tough day for the men as they lost another close one 5-4 to Spring Arbor University. The only doubles win came at #3 where Jason Stump and Mitchell McDonald came from behind to take a 9-7 win. The other two doubles teams both fell 8-5.
All matches were close except for #5 singles where HU’s Jason Stump easily defeated Dan Peters 6-0, 6-1. Daron Short had his best outing as a Forester as he defeated Troy Heselschwerdt 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at #3. After dropping the first set 6-2, Adam Widener came back to beat Phil Mayes 6-2 and 7-6 at #6 for HU's final point of the match.
“We need to have everyone play well to beat the better teams in the conference,” said Coach Turner. “Several of our guys are on the verge of breaking out. I am especially proud of Daron because his confidence level was way up and he played great.”
With the loss, the men fall to 4-5 on the season and 2-5 in the MCC.
