HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Despite playing without two of their top six players, the Forester men's tennis team kept things close but couldn't quite pull off the win as they dropped a 5-4 decision to the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University Friday morning at Klopfenstein Courts.
Vlad Khudziy and Jose Hungria picked up HU's only win in doubles and went on to win at the #1 and #2 spots respectively in singles action to account for three of Huntington's victories. Diego Inurritegui won a first set thriller and then cruised to an easy second set for the home team's fourth and final win of the day.
"We have our first conference match this Tuesday at home versus Taylor University and hopefully will for the first time have our starting lineup eligible and ready to play," said Coach Eckert.
"Taylor finished one spot ahead of us in conference play last year, finishing 3rd in conference, so this will be a tough match. But getting the match last night against UNOH and the match this morning against Cornerstone will be critical to our success."
The Foresters now turn their attention to league play where they will face Taylor University Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
