FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Hitting the road for two tough Crossroads matches, the Huntington men’s tennis team lost a hard fought battle to Marian University 5-4 on Friday before the Cougars of Spring Arbor University took it to HU 8-1 on Saturday to drop the Foresters into the fifth spot in conference play.

With the threat of inclement weather, Friday’s match against the Knights was moved to the West Indy Racquet Club where things started out well for HU.

The Foresters snagged wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles but couldn’t hang on for the win as Marian stormed back to snag four of the six singles matches to claim the hard fought victory.

Despite several closely contested matches, Diego Inurritegui was the only HU player to record a win at the No. 4 spot by defeating Nathan Scholten in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

The Foresters (3-5, 3-3) have three matches this week, including conference foes Grace and Bethel, before heading into the Crossroads League Tournament on October 2.
