Khudziy named Forester Athlete of the Week

Huntington, Ind. — The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of September 19-25, 2011. Men’s tennis sophomore Vlad Khudziy earned the honor for his outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Khudziy, a business major from Moscow, Russia had an outstanding week of tennis at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament at Aquinas College. In singles action, he breezed through the three-day tournament as the No. 1 seed winning six consecutive matches to bring home the men’s singles championship for the second year in a year.

He along with teammate Augusto Velez also dominated doubles play. They stormed through the bracket with a 5-0 record to capture the men’s doubles championship. Both Forester athletes will represent the Midwest at the ITA National Championships in Mobile, Alabama October 13-16. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
