SPRING ARBOR, Mich - Playing its best tennis of the year, 4th-seeded Spring Arbor University knocked 5th-seeded Huntington University out of postseason play with a 7-2 win over the Foresters in first round action of the Crossroads League Tournament Tuesday afternoon.
After dropping their first two matches of the year, the Cougars are currently riding an eight-game win streak and advance to the semifinals on Thursday where they will face top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University.
It was sweet revenge for HU’s #1 duo of Vlad Khudziy and Jose Hungria as they finally knocked off Thomas Calderone and Aaron Mayes 8-6 after losing the last four matches to the Cougar powerhouses.
Diego Inurritegui registered the only other win for the Foresters as he beat Nathan Scholten in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. With this win, Inurritegui finished with an unblemished record of 9-0 in conference play.
The Foresters (5-7) wrap up the fall season with a road match against Tiffin University on October 10.
