The Foresters (8-14) used some heavy lumber to pound the Indiana Tech Warriors, banging out 26 hits to sweep the doubleheader 17-15 and 16-1.
Game one was a marathon with both teams combining to score 32 runs. Tech pushed one across in the top of the first, but the Foresters plated six in their half of the inning. The two teams traded a pair of runs over the next two innings to give HU an 8-3 lead. Tech then took the lead briefly with six runs in the top of the fourth, but the Foresters responded with five in their half of the fourth to go back up 13-9. The Warriors would still not go away and trimmed their deficit to 13-11 with two runs in the fifth. HU used five hits to score four runs in the bottom of the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Ashley McCann collected three hits to lead the Forester offense and AJ Tobey went 2-4 and drove in five runs in the winning effort. Kendra Stahl picked up the win for HU. She went five innings and gave up 11 runs on eight hits while striking out two and walking four.
In the second game, the Forester bats stayed hot, but Rebekah Gumbiner cooled off Tech allowing the Warriors just two hits in the game. Tech again took the early 1-0 lead in the first, but HU went right to work and scored five runs in the first and added another five in the second. The Foresters left no doubt with a six spot in the fourth.
HU out-hit the Warriors 14-2 in the game. Kendra Stahl and April Snider led the Forester barrage. Stahl went 3-4 and had a RBI while Snider was 2-4 and drove in three runs. Gumbiner went the distance for HU allowing a run on two hits and four walks while striking out five.
