HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The 2011-12 Capital One Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom and among the list of honorees is senior catcher Brita Kuiper.
Kuiper was one of sixteen athletes named to the College Division’s First Team (District 3). The District Three College Division includes NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
The Bellevue, Michigan native (Olivet High School) carries a 3.75 GPA as a nursing major. She helped guide the Foresters to a program-best 29 wins on the season while earning Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. At the plate, Kuiper ranked second on the team in hitting (.347) and RBI (33). She hammered out 45 hits including ten doubles and a homerun. Behind the plate she logged 181 putouts and 25 assists.
To be eligible for the Capital One Academic All-District Team ballot, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and nominated by her sports information director.
