Herber earns Forester Athlete of the Week honors

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of February 6-12, 2012. Men’s track senior Joseph Herber earned the honor for his outstanding effort at the Taylor University Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

For the second time this season, Joseph Herber (Fremont, Ind., Fremont H.S.) hit an NAIA qualifying mark for the NAIA Indoor National Championships. He blew away the competition by more than 37 seconds in the 5,000 meter run with his time of 15:10.92.

In addition to bringing home the top finish, he met the NAIA “A” qualifying mark. Herber has now qualified for two events at the NAIA National Championships. Last month he qualified for the 3,000 meter run at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
