McHenry finishes 20th at Nationals

/uploadedImages/News/News_Release_Images/Athletics/McHenry-Krystal.jpgMARION, Ind. - Huntington University Senior Krystal McHenry capped off her collegiate running career Saturday morning with a stellar performance in the marathon at the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on May 24-26.

The Fremont native (Fremont High School) was among the athletes to open up competition on Saturday by running the streets of Marion at 6:00 a.m. She entered the 26.2 mile race as the 20th seed and lived up to her billing by finishing in 3:25:13.40 for a 20th place finish.

Shorter (Ga.) defended their men's championship by scoring 93 points for a 24-point victory. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) was runner-up with 69 points while Wayland Baptist (Texas), the 2010 champion, was third with 67 points.

The Oklahoma Baptist women finally were able to hoist the championship banner after three consecutive years of being so close. Oklahoma Baptist has finished runner-up the past three years, including a one point loss two years ago. Oklahoma Baptist scored 101.5 points to outdistance Concordia (Ore.) which finished at 81 points.
