Spahr named Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of February 4-10, 2013. Women’s track sophomore Gretchen Spahr earned the honor for her outstanding performance at the Joe Banks Invitational over the weekend.

Spahr, a pre-med major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North H.S.), turned in a personal best on Saturday to help guide the Foresters to a fifth place team finish. The Huntington native (Huntington North H.S.) clocked a 10:41.82 in the 3000 meter run, shaving nearly five seconds off her PR, to claim second place.

She currently holds the Huntington indoor record in the 3000 meter run, outrunning any other Forester in program history by more than 14 seconds. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
