HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Five Foresters were among the list of All-Conference volleyball honorees released by the Crossroads League over the weekend.
Codie Morey (Blue Island, Ill., Harold L. Richards H.S.) was one of six rookies named to the All-Freshman Team. The 5-9 setter averaged 4.3 assists per set and earned the starting spot as HU’s setter in the latter part of the season. She averaged 1.56 digs per game and finished the season with an 88.4 serving percentage.
For the second consecutive year, junior Melissa Grossman (Huntington, Ind., Huntington North H.S.) was named Honorable Mention All-Conference. She led the team in kills with 178 and her .180 hitting percentage was also a team best. The 6-0 middle hitter also posted the most blocks with 65 and finished tenth in league standings for blocks per set (.70).
Joining Grossman as an Honorable Mention pick was Katie Bowers. The 5-6 senior from Silver Lake, Ind. (Manchester H.S.) returned to the hardwood after a two-year hiatus and quickly established herself as one of the league’s top defenders. Her team-high 4.11 digs per set landed her the seventh spot in Crossroads play.
Junior Kaylee Searles was also named Honorable Mention All-Conference. The Van Buren, Ind. native (Eastbrook H.S.) was a consistent presence at the net. The 5-10 middle hitter averaged 1.77 kills per game and finished second on the team in blocks with 61. She finished the season with only seven serving errors to lead the team with a 96.2 serving percentage.
Rounding out the Honorable Mention Team was sophomore Heather Medich (Mendon, Mich., Mendon H.S.). As one of the Foresters’ top hitters, the 5-9 left side hitter averaged 1.89 kills per set. She was equally adept defensively, finishing second on the team in digs with her 2.13 average.
