The Foresters opened their season winning two of three matches at Tri-State University. HU got off to a good start knocking off Mac Murray College in three straight 30-23, 30-24, 31-29. "We controlled the match from the beginning," said Coach Schroeder. "Even when we substituted our younger players, they did a nice job of keeping the tempo in our favor." Amy Wilson led the team with nine kills in the match and Renee Biberstine and Heidi Christner each added eight. Kayley Cervenka had three blocks, Kellie Hanson dished out 39 assists, Stephanie Stearns had 27 digs and Tiffany Malfait added three aces.
In their second match, the Foresters struggled with their passing game and succumbed to the host Thunder in four games losing 30-24, 24-30, 26-30, 21-30. Wilson again took team-high honors with 16 kills. Hanson had 34 assists and Stearns added 26 digs and three aces. The Foresters re-grouped for their final match against Goshen College winning 30-20, 30-20, 27-30, 30-27. Marissa Scheiber led HU with 10 kills while Natasha Gayday and Cervenka each added eight. The Foresters' defense dominated the middle with Malfait tallying six blocks and Cervenka five. Hanson finished with 28 assists while Stearns had 22 digs and four aces.
