The Foresters (10-3) dominated the Manchester College Tournament on the weekend, winning three matches without dropping a game.
HU opened play on Friday against Robert Morris College and got off to a good start with a 30-20, 30-26, 30-13 win. Renee Biberstine tallied 11 kills in the match to lead the Foresters. Brittney Smelser had three blocks, Kellie Hanson dished out 20 assists, Trisha Donaghy had 14 digs and Amanda Meyers served six aces.
On Saturday, HU had little trouble with Calumet College of St. Joseph knocking them off 30-13, 30-10, 30-10. Kayley Cervenka put down 12 kills and added six blocks. Alyssa Schroeder recorded 23 assists and added 11 digs. Stephanie Stearns had a team-high 15 digs and Hanson led the team with five aces.
In their final match of the tournament, the Foresters faced the host Spartans and completed the sweep with a 30-25, 30-19, 30-22 victory. Biberstine again led the attack with 13 kills. Tiffany Malfait contributed nine kills and a team-leading five blocks. Stearns had 22 digs, Schroeder had 32 assists and Meyers and Natasha Gayday each served three aces.
Biberstine, Schroeder and Smelser were all named to the All-Tournament team.
