MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The HU volleyball struggled over the weekend, dropping two three-set matches to conference rivals Marian University and Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
The Foresters came out sluggish against the Knights Friday night to only score eight points in the first set before dropping the next two, 25-19, 25-14.
HU’s offense never got rolling as they hit .043 as a team to Marian’s .286. Marian’s offensive production nearly doubled that of the Foresters as they outhit their visitors 42-24.
Kaylee Searles paced HU with six kills while teammates Melissa Grossman and Katie Bowers finished with five kills each. Bowers also added a team-high 12 digs while Jensen Carnahan dished out 20 assists.
Things didn’t go much better for HU on Saturday when they traveled to Mount Vernon where they lost 25-16, 25-22, 25-17.
The Cougars took full advantage of the Foresters’ consistency woes to hand HU their seventh Crossroads loss.
Brittany Rooze logged eight kills in the losing effort with Heather Medich adding six and Grossman tallying five. Bowers recorded 11 digs to pace the Foresters’ defense and Carnahan finished with 23 assists.
Huntington (1-12, 1-7) hosts Spring Arbor University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
