Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of October 16-22, 2006. Women’s volleyball freshman Alyssa Schroeder and men’s cross country sophomore Nick Johnson earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Alyssa Schroeder, an Elementary Education major from Huntington, Indiana (Huntington North High School), helped lead Huntington to a 3-1 record for the week. As the Foresters’ setter, she dished out 198 assists in the four matches for an average of 11.6 per game. Schroeder currently leads Huntington with her 10.2 season average. The Foresters (22-11) will next play host to Spring Arbor University on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m.
Nick Johnson, an Exercise Science major from Huntington, Indiana (Huntington North High School) led the Foresters to a third place finish in the Mid-Central Conference (MCC) championships by placing fourth in the 8K race with a time of 26:13. The sophomore also earned MCC All-Conference honors for the second time in his young career. Huntington will next compete for the NAIA Region VIII championship at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m.
