HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University basketball coach Lori Culler has announced the signing of Faith Christian standout Lacy Deitrick as the latest addition to her Forester roster.
Deitrick spent the first two years of her prep career at McCutcheon High School where the Mavericks claimed back-to-back regional titles to go along with two Hoosier Conference titles before making the move to Faith Christian High School.
In addition to tossing in 7.6 points in an Eagle uniform this past season, Deitrick also dished out a team-high 3.4 assists and pulled down an average of 3.6 rebounds per outing. The sha
rp-shooter earned the Eagles’ Team Player Award and was selected to play in the Indiana Elite North/South All-Star game.
The 5-3 guard has also been active in the AAU circuit where she helped guide her Lafayette Basketball Academy team to the AYBT National Championship in 2011 and showed her range from deep by winning a 3-point shootout this past summer.
Deitrick has excelled as a three-sport athlete throughout her high school career. In addition to earning four letters in basketball, she has logged just as many in softball to go along with a trio of letters in volleyball.
“I am looking forward to going to Huntington University to get a Christian education and study Exercise Science,” said Deitrick. “I am excited to play basketball for the HU Foresters.”
Culler is equally excited to have Deitrick become a Forester. “We’re happy that Lacy has chosen to continue her basketball career at Huntington. She has had a tremendous impact on the program at Faith Christian School and we’re looking forward to what she’ll bring to HU.
“She has good range on her jump shot and can handle the ball well. She also is a strong student who we expect will excel in the classroom as an Exercise Science major.”
