Tri-West High School standout, Sam Ricks, has signed a Letter of Intent to continue her basketball career at Huntington University next fall.
Ricks, a Sagamore All-Conference, All-Hendricks County and All-Indianapolis Suburban West selection as a sophomore and junior, appears to be headed for a three-peat as she nears the end of her senior season. She is currently averaging 17.4 points and 4.7 rebounds for the 16-3 Bruins. She is the all-time leading scorer at Tri-West having accumulated 1,336 points to date. She also holds the school record for season free throw percentage at 80.5% and will more than likely finish as the school’s leader in career free throw percentage. Ricks will also finish her career in Tri-West’s top five for career three-point percentage, assists and steals.
Huntington University basketball coach, Lori Culler, is excited about adding Ricks to the 2010-11 recruiting class. “Adding Sam to the roster gives us another solid outside threat as well as some size on the perimeter. She is adept at hitting the long ball but can also put it on the floor and get to the hoop. I really like Sam’s competitiveness and work ethic which are two aspects that will help her make a quick transition to the college game. I’m looking forward to watching her career unfold as a Forester.”
