Speed named Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of January 28 - February 3, 2013. Women’s basketball junior Pazia Speed earned the honor for her outstanding efforts this past week.

Speed, a native of Portland, Ind. (Jay County H.S.), averaged 20.5 points and 1.5 rebounds to lead the Foresters to a 1-1 record last week in Crossroads League action. The 5-7 junior opened the week with 17 points in HU’s 64-60 loss to Marian on Tuesday. She followed that up with a 24-point performance in her team’s impressive 62-43 road victory at Grace College on Saturday.

For the week, Speed shot 60.7 percent (17-for-28) from the field which included going 4-for-9 from deep. She currently ranks 21st in NAIA Division II in field goal percentage (52.4) and 38th in free throw percentage (79.7).

The Foresters are back in action on Wednesday when they host #1 Indiana Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
