HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University Women’s Basketball Coach Lori Culler didn’t have to go very far to lock in her most recent recruit with the signing of Huntington North High School standout Allyson Trout.
Trout did a little bit of everything for her Viking squad this past season. In addition to leading her team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 11.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per outing, she also finished with a team-high 43 steals.
The 5-8 shooting guard established herself as one of the most dangerous long-range shooters in northern Indiana, knocking down nearly two long bombs per game, and for her efforts earned Honorable Mention All-State honors. She also repeated as a Second Team All-Conference pick.
In addition to her athletic success, Trout has also excelled in the classroom as evidenced by her numerous honors and awards. In addition to being named Honorable Mention Academic All-State for basketball this past season, she is also a member of National Honor Society and has been in the top 25 of her class throughout her prep career.
“We’re excited to add another Huntington North Lady Viking to our roster,” commented Coach Culler.” Allyson will play a part in helping fill the void left by the graduation of three senior guards from this year’s squad.
“She has good range and the ability to put the ball on the floor. She is also a hard worker and very coachable. That combination makes her a valuable addition to our program. But aside from what she will contribute on the court, Allyson is an outstanding student and quality individual that will also make an impact on our campus."
