HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Head Coach Jim Bischoff has announced that Gr
eenwood High School (Ind.) standout Shelby New has signed her letter of intent to bowl for the Huntington University Foresters this fall.
New, a nursing major, is currently averaging 202 in green and gold which places her among the top ten averages in Indiana High School bowling this season.
She has enjoyed much success throughout her prep career. As a freshman, she placed second at regionals and qualified for semi-state. In 2011, she made another trip to semi-state after finishing fourth at sectionals and third at regionals.
This past spring, New claimed the No. 10 spot at the state finals. Her path to state included winning sectionals, placing ninth in regionals and finishing third at semi-state.
New qualified for the 2011 and 2012 Indiana Youth Queens, finishing 6th and 8th respectively. She has also represented Indiana on the Indiana All-Star Team against Kentucky for the past two years.
This past fall, she won the Fort Wayne Indiana Junior Bowlers Tour title and was the Indianapolis Queens Champion.
“Shelby is a great competitor and brings a lot of tournament experience to the Lady Foresters,” said Coach Bischoff. “I’m very excited she will be joining us. “
