New named Forester Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 18, 2013. Women’s bowling freshman Shelby New earned the honor for her outstanding effort this past weekend.

New became the first Forester in program history to take top honors at a tournament. She claimed the individual title at Adrian College’s AC Open at the Lewanee Recreation Center on Saturday. The Greenwood native averaged 214.0 through four regular games with a high game of 246. Her top finish also landed her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

As a team, the Foresters finished third, their highest finish of the season, with a pin total of 6,542 which included four regular games and 16 Baker matches.

Huntington is back in action November 29-30 when they participate in the National Collegiate Team Match Games in Belleville, Illinois.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
