HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University head women’s soccer coach Ryan Burgher has announced the latest addition to his 2012-13 squad with the signing of Becca Grimes from Washtenaw Christian Academy.
The Saline, Michigan native has been named her team’s most valuable player for the past three years. In the off season she has also played for Saline Swarm, Ann Arbor United Soccer Club, and most recently the Novi Michigan Jaguars.
In addition to playing soccer at Washtenaw, Grimes has also played on the Wildcat basketball team where she is a two-time MVP and recipient of the Shield Award.
She has also excelled in the classroom having been named to the high honor roll. She is a small group leader, member and former officer of the Beta Club and volunteer at school and in her community.
“I am really excited to have Becca joining our program here at Huntington. She came to our recruitment weekend and I was really impressed with what I saw,” said Coach Burgher. “Becca is going to come in and really push our mids and strikers. She has all the natural attributes to make an impact right away. I’m really excited to have her with us come August.”
Grimes, who is planning to major in either Exercise Science/Pre OT or Nursing, said, “I chose Huntington because it's a place where I can make lasting friendships, get a great education and strengthen my walk with the Lord. I'm really looking forward to getting to know the team and other people at HU.”
Grimes is the daughter of Jane and Mike Grimes of Saline, Michigan.
