WARSAW, Ind. - The Forester women’s soccer team continues to roll over its opponents with Lawrence Technological University on the receiving end of Wednesday’s 6-0 shutout.
HU used an arsenal of offensive weapons with five different Foresters finding the back of the net. HU recorded 20 shots to LTU’s 3.
Erin Barclay got things started on a cross from Brittany Hartman 13 minutes into play to give HU the early lead.
Freshman Becca Grimes came off the bench to log HU’s next goal. With five minutes left in the half Grimes dribbled through several Blue Devil defenders to put one past the keeper for the 2-0 lead.
Kassy Zimmerman grew the lead to three just before halftime when she slotted one past the keeper on an assist from Courtney Baker.
With the ball bouncing around in the box, Crystal Andreas was the next Forester to find netting when she knocked one in in the 60th minute for her first goal of the season.
It was déjà vu for Grimes as she picked apart the Lawrence defense again in the second half to tally her second goal of the day. Sara Marshall then capped off the blowout when she tapped one in from inside the six to account for HU’s final goal.
In her first collegiate start, Mary Whybrew recorded the shutout in goal. She finished with two saves in 90 minutes of play.
The Foresters improve to 5-1 on the season. They are back in action on Friday to face Rochester College at 2:00 p.m.
