Ashley Minix, a senior at Rochester Community High School, has signed a national letter of intent to continue her education and soccer career at Huntington University. Minix is the second 2011 signee for the Huntington University women’s soccer
Minix has excelled as a three-sport athlete for the Rochester Zebras. As a four-year starter on the soccer team, she set multiple records which include most goals in a season, most goals in a game and most assists in a season. She walks away from Rochester with 52 career goals. In addition to her success on the soccer field, she has also left her mark in track and basketball having received MVP honors in track and the sportsmanship award in basketball.
Minix has also shown herself to be an excellent student. In addition to juggling three sports, she holds a 3.6 GPA. Minix is also active in Spanish Club, Varsity Club, Key Club, and the school’s dance team. She plans to major in nursing.
“I choose Huntington because I fell in love with the campus and the people. Huntington also has a really good nursing program that I am excited to experience," said Minix. "I am most excited to get to know the people at HU and play soccer. The soccer program seems to be headed in a great direction and I am looking forward to being a part of that."
“We were really excited when Ashley decided to continue to education and soccer career at Huntington. She is a great girl and just seemed to fit when she visited Huntington,” commented head coach Ryan Burgher. “Ashley is a very athletic and competitive girl with a lot of speed. Those qualities are going to make her a very dangerous player for us.”
Ashley is the daughter of David and Kim Minix.
