WARSAW, Ind. - It was history in the making Wednesday afternoon at the City County Athletic Complex in Warsaw, Indiana, as the HU women’s soccer team pounded Andrews University 11-0, the largest margin of victory in program history.
Jessica Krause ignited the scoring frenzy 17 minutes into the contest and over the next ten minutes, she and Lisa Underwood combined to score three more goals to make it a 4-0 match. Bethany Quinn added to the fury by finding the back of the net twice within a three-minute span to make it 6-0 by halftime.
The final 45 minutes was more of same as five different Foresters scored highlighted by seniors Sara Marshall and Alyssa Krause each scoring their first collegiate goal in a Forester uniform.
HU dominated possession giving up only one shot on the day while generating 37 shots, 21 of which were on goal. The Foresters also enjoyed a 7-0 advantage on corner kicks.
The Foresters are yet to give up a goal this season and yesterday’s debacle saw Megan Soltow and Korynne Kik tag-teaming in goal for the shutout.
“We want to win every game we play, but we were especially looking forward to this one,” noted Coach Burgher. “We severely under-performed when we played Andrews last year and we wanted to make things right in our own minds."
Huntington (3-0) is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Cornerstone University for a 2:00 p.m. kick-off.
