The Foresters traveled to Grace College to take on a much improved Lancer squad and came away with a 6-3 win to even their record at 1-1 on the year. After dropping two of three doubles matches, the women stormed back to win five of six singles matches to secure their first victory of the season. Freshmen Stephanie Strong and Kendra Ganz remained unbeaten with double wins in the match. The pair earned the 8-2 win in doubles and then took out their opponents in straight sets in singles. Strong beat Julie Weaver 6-3, 6-2 at #1 and Ganz went 6-4, 6-2 to defeat Anna Metz at #2. Other winners included Jessica Deter (6-3, 6-2) at #3 singles, Katie Sprunger (7-5, 6-0) at #4 and Liz Hull (6-3, 6-3) at #6.
“We really need to work on our doubles,” said Coach Turner. “We can’t afford to lose two and still come back like we did today. But, I am really proud of the way we came back and stayed consistent in singles. We work on consistency every day in practice and it really has paid off.”
