Although many of the matches were close, the Foresters couldn’t seem to gain enough momentum and dropped the match to Goshen College 6-3. Stephanie Strong remained unbeaten in both singles and doubles as the freshman had her toughest challenge of the season against Diana Diaz at #1 singles. After dropping the first set 6-1, she returned the favor with a 6-1 win in set two. The third set came down to a tie break and Strong outlasted Diaz 10-8 for the win. She and doubles partner, Kendra Ganz, struggled early, then came on strong to take an 8-4 win at #1 doubles. The only other win for the Foresters was at #4 singles where Katie Sprunger pulled out a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 win over Kati Martin.
“We are still young and are making a lot of freshman type mistakes,” said Coach Turner. “We will continue to improve as the season progresses.”
The loss drops the women to 2-4 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.
