NOTE: Due to an active legislative schedule, US Congressman Mark Souder will not present the program for this breakfast as previously announced. Souder has been invited to appear at December’s breakfast instead.
Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College Foundation will host its next monthly breakfast on Wednesday, November 10, 1999. Mr. Larry Lance of Youth for Christ will describe his agency’s work with teens throughout the region.
Lance is executive director of Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ, a 1980 graduate of Huntington College, and a member of the college’s Board of Trustees.
Lance recently co-authored a book with former Huntington College dean of students Kent Fishel. Xtreme Faith is a 30-day devotional comprising four sections: What is Faith?, Growing in Faith, Sharing Your Faith, and Tests and Trials of Your Faith.
“We discovered that kids were having trouble with the concept of faith—with what faith is,” Lance said. “This is a very challenging way of taking them to the next level in their faith lives.”
The book will printed in a variety of formats, all produced by the New York-based American Bible Society. The contents of the devotional book were published in May as the opening of Xtreme Faith: A Contemporary English Version New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs, which had a initial print run of 100,000 copies. ABS will also produce 100,000 copies of the devotional book as a marketing tool for its product line. Another 35,000 copies of the Bible containing the full text of Xtreme Faith will be distributed free of charge at Youth For Christ’s DC/LA youth convention in July 2000.
The public is cordially invited to attend the breakfast program. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons. The program will conclude by 9:00 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $6 per person. First-time guests are not charged.
